Today was a first for Cycle Carpentry, we had our first run-in with OSHA.
After years in business and hundreds of projects completed, it was definitely an eye-opening experience.
One thing I took away from today is that we need to take safety to the NEXT LEVEL.
We’ve always cared about keeping our crews, our customers, and their properties safe, but there is always room to improve. As we continue to grow as a company, our safety procedures need to grow right along with us.
Moving forward, we’ll be putting even more emphasis on jobsite safety, proper equipment, training, accountability, and making sure everyone working under the Cycle Carpentry name understands exactly what is expected of them.
You can either look at an experience like this as a headache… or use it as an opportunity to become a better company.
We’re choosing the second one.
🏠 Better systems.
👷 Better training.
🦺 Safer jobsites.
📈 A better Cycle Carpentry.
Growth isn’t just about doing more jobs, it’s about continuously raising the standard in every part of the business.

🔥 WHAT A RUN WE’VE BEEN ON! 🔥
I had to screen-record my inbox because a screenshot couldn’t even capture it all signed contract after signed contract coming in!
Over the past few weeks, I’ve gotten back heavily involved in sales, and I forgot how much I genuinely enjoy sitting down with homeowners, looking at their roofing or siding project, and educating them on what their home actually needs.
I’ve never believed in high-pressure sales. I’d rather explain the project, point out the details that matter, show homeowners the difference between doing something cheap and doing it right, and let our knowledge and reputation speak for themselves.
When you’ve spent years in the field, you’re not just selling a roof or siding job. You’re helping homeowners understand ventilation, proper installation, materials, warranties, flashing details, and all the little things that determine whether their investment lasts.
Seeing all these “Document Has Been Signed” emails coming through is a pretty great feeling but what means even more is knowing that every one of them represents another homeowner who trusted Cycle Carpentry with their home.
We don’t want to be the biggest company.
We want to be the company people trust.
And judging by this inbox… I’d say we’re doing something right. 💪🏠

New roof in Norwell today. Along with the roof, we will be framing and adding soffit extensions to the entire house so that we are able to vent the home properly.. we will be removing plywood as needed to install baffles from soffit to ridge to make the continuous correct venting, new rubber roof on the lower rear sloped roof and replacing all the trim with new PVC with hidden fasteners
WHAT A GREAT FEW WEEKS FOR CYCLE CARPENTRY! 🏠🔨
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been fortunate to have a ton of new roofing and siding contracts signed, and I have to say—it feels great to be back out in the field doing sales again.
But for me, sales has never really been about selling.
I don’t believe in sitting at someone’s kitchen table and pressuring them into signing a contract.
Instead, I use my years of hands-on experience in roofing, siding, ventilation, and exterior construction to educate homeowners about their home.
I want you to understand:
🔹 What your home actually needs
🔹 What it doesn’t need
🔹 Why certain products and installation methods matter
🔹 Where contractors sometimes cut corners
🔹 How ventilation can affect your entire roofing system
🔹 And how to make the best long-term investment in your home
Sometimes I’ll actually talk a homeowner out of spending money on something they don’t need.
That’s the difference.
I don’t want to pressure you into choosing Cycle Carpentry. I want to give you enough knowledge and confidence that choosing us becomes the easy decision.
And judging by the number of homeowners who have trusted us with their roofing and siding projects over these past few weeks, that philosophy is working.
Every signed contract represents another homeowner putting their trust in our company—and that’s something I never take lightly.
Thank you to everyone who continues to recommend us, leave reviews, share our work, and trust our team with your homes.
We’re not here to sell you a roof or siding.
We’re here to help you make the right decision for your home.

🏠 IT STARTED WITH NEW GUTTERS… BUT WE FOUND SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT.
We were called out to this home in Holbrook, MA to install new seamless gutters. During our inspection, we noticed the home didn’t have proper soffit ventilation to allow enough fresh air into the attic.
Rather than simply covering it up and installing the gutters, we explained what we found to the homeowner and why proper attic intake ventilation is so important for the roofing system.
She decided to have us correct the problem while we were there — and do it right. 💪
Our crew:
🔨 Replaced sections of rotted fascia
💨 Drilled the existing soffits to create proper air-intake openings
🏠 Installed CertainTeed InvisiVent vinyl soffit for continuous ventilation and a clean finished appearance
✨ Wrapped the fascia with new white aluminum
💧 Finished everything off with new white seamless gutters
The end result is a much cleaner exterior — but more importantly, the home now has the proper intake ventilation needed to help the entire roofing system perform the way it should.
At Cycle Carpentry, we don’t believe in just completing the work we were called for. We inspect the entire roofing and exterior system and make sure our customers understand what we find.
Sometimes doing the job right means looking beyond the job you were originally hired to do.

New roof in Quincy this is the third time. Homeowner is having to do his roof under in 15 years..
The first time the roof lasted about five years before shingles started sliding off. So we had it replaced and here we are eight years later after it being replaced the second time and the same issue as occurring.
Luckily, out of everyone, the homeowner called for estimates we were the only one to discuss ventilation and how the improper ventilation of the home was causing the attic space to bake and ultimately causing the tar in the shingles to heat up so much that the shingles were sliding.
we removed all the decking and installed baffles from the soffit all the way to the ridge vent. Along with venting the soffits correctly.
We closed the gable vents and now the air will flow from the soffits directly to the regiment continuously and the homeowner shouldn’t have any more issues moving forward.
When hiring a company to do your roof, ventilation is one of the most if not the most crucial part of your roofing system make sure your Contractor is well educated in the subject.
About a month ago, someone reached out to me on behalf of a retired nun who had been dealing with roof leaks for quite some time. Several people had attempted to fix the problem, but the leaks never stopped.
I went to take a look, and before I even got there, I had already made up my mind that I was going to help her.
After inspecting the roof, I found that it simply couldn’t be patched anymore. The entire roof needed to be replaced. As I explained my findings, she told me she would have to figure out some type of financing to cover the cost.
To her surprise, I told her that I wasn’t going to charge her a penny.
The look on her face said everything. I could see the weight being lifted from her shoulders. It’s a look I’ve been fortunate enough to see from other people I’ve been able to help along the way, and it’s a feeling that’s hard to describe.
There is no better feeling than putting someone else’s needs ahead of your own, especially when that person is a complete stranger.
The motto I try to live by is simple:
Do good, and goodwill will always find you

Also lots of rotted areas that needed to be completely rebuilt.
We start our very first Rise siding install next week. You get the look of James Hardie without all the install stipulations and much easier to work with.

Bridgewater hybrid James Hardie siding project making progress.
Guys had to first wrap the exterior in new 1/2 CDX plywood to ensure a flat solid surface for the siding to lay correctly.
Then wrapped the exterior in the Vycor enVs house wrap
when referring to the hybrid James Hardie system that means we will be installing the traditional cement board siding but instead of doing all the trim over in PVC really driving up the cost of the project. We are going to do all vinyl soffits, vinyl corner boards, and then wrap all the trim in a new white aluminum.
Have you gotten ridiculous prices to have James Hardie installed on your home? Give us a call and let us price out this hybrid system for you.
The best defense against weather damage starts before it arrives. Choose contractors who build with foresight and precision.

Growing pains in business are real.
Recently, I hired someone for sales and put a little too much faith in them. I’ll leave it at that and simply say… it didn’t work out.
Last month was one of the toughest months I’ve had in business. I lost more than what many people make in an entire year.
I had two choices: let it break me or get to work.
I chose to get back out there myself.
I started running estimates every chance I got. No exaggeration, I sold every single job I looked at and completely filled a schedule that was only booked out for another month.
When you’re responsible for a team of people and their families rely on you to provide steady work, the pressure becomes very real. Looking at a calendar with only a month of work left is enough to keep you up at night.
I never want to let my team down, and I never want to see any of them struggle to pay their bills because I didn’t do everything I could to keep work coming in.
So I did estimates every evening, came home and wrote proposals late into the night so homeowners had them as quickly as possible. At the same time, I was putting in 12- to 14-hour days building our new house in Wareham. Most days I leave at 6:00 in the morning and don’t get home until 6:00 or even 8:00 at night.
Was it exhausting? Absolutely.
Was it worth it? Every second.
If you’re going through a rough patch right now, don’t sit around waiting for things to magically get better. Get up and do something to change the outcome.
Nobody is coming to save you.
If you want something bad enough, you’ll find a way. It takes discipline. It takes sacrifice. It takes sleepless nights. It takes showing up when you don’t feel like it.
Success isn’t about never getting knocked down. It’s about refusing to stay there.
Keep pushing. The comeback is always earned.
Another job we started today in Bridgewater. This will consist of stripping the existing two layers of wood siding, wrapping the exterior in our vycor fully adhered house wrap, installing Hardie shingle on entire exterior, wrapping all trim and installing vinyl on all soffits as well as cleaning up all of the post for front porch and side entrances with New white PVC railing kits.
Looking forward to this one
New roof in Easton today.
after inspection of the attic, we discovered the soffits weren’t actually vented. Only appeared to be from the outside of the home. Easiest solution was to remove a couple rows of decking to drill down through the soffit and create a way for the air to enter.
Then install installing new CDX plywood to entire area of roof, followed by installing a full CertainTeed roof roofing system✅✅✅
The biggest mistake commercial property owners make?
Assuming every roofing company can handle a commercial project.
They can’t.
Commercial roofing is a different game. Larger crews. More coordination. More planning. More risk.
When a project involves multiple stories, cranes, occupied buildings, and tight timelines, experience matters.
If you own or manage commercial property in Southeastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island, this behind-the-scenes look shows what’s really involved in getting the job done right.
🏆 Another milestone we’re incredibly proud of.
